Backup & Restore


BACKUP

A duplicate copy of programs, Hard disk or data made either for archiving purpose or for a safe regarding valuable files from a lose. In case the active copy is damaged or destroyed.

 Five Types of Backup:
  Normal
  Incremental
  Differentials
  Copy Back up
  Daily Backup

Attributes: - from a file the information that indicates wither a file is read , read-only, archiving, hidden,   compressed or incepted weather a file contains should be a index for fast file searching.  
Normal Backup:-A normal backup that copies all selected files and folders & marks each file as having a backed up(i.e. the archive bit is cleared).
Incremental:-Copies only those file created or changed since the last normal backup or last incremental backup. That means normal backup takes the backup only of those file which they have archive once after the backup clear the archive bit that means that all the files will be backed up.
Differentials:- Copies the file created or change since the last normal backup or last incremental backup that means differential backup takes the backup those file which they have archive one. After the backup he does not clear the archive bits. That means that all files not be backed up.
Copy Backup:- It copies all selected files, weather the archive bit is one or Zero, after the backup it does not clear the archive bit i.e. all the files will not be backed up.
Daily backup:- It backups all the selected files. Modified throughout the day or 24 hrs, after the backup it does not clear the archive bit.

How to take Active Directory Backup:-

Go To domain Controller -Start-ProgramàAssess…-system tools-Backup-Next-backup Files and setting -Select Let me chose what to backup-Click My Computer-System State-right side select all – 5 thingsnext-Browse and select the location save it where ever u wish to -Name the file-Next-Advance-backup type-Normal -next-check verify data after backup-Next-Append this backup to the file existent backup-late-Give job name-Set Schedule
For normal backup select weekly -check Sundayàevery – 1-Start Time- 08:00 AM

There are two types of restore:
Authority & Non Authority

Authority Restore-: operation perform on active directory domain controller in which the objects in the restore directory are trade mark as authority and replace all the existing copy of those objects.

Non Authority Restore-: operation perform on active directory domain controller in which the objects in the restore directory are not trade mark authority, the restore object are upload with change hold on other domain controller on the domain.

                                                                       RESTORE

How to restore Active Directories data base:-

Go to Active direc..-->restart the domain control-->Press F8”safe mode will be on”à
Command lineàntdsutil enter
ntdsutil: ?
ntdsutil: auth rest
Authoritative restore: ?
Command - Restore object OU=sales,dc=xmail,dc=com
